Job Descriptions and Requirements

Private Security Services
Site security sentries will perform access control, uniformed patrols, incident response and other duties on the premises of our clients, under the control and direction of Great Northern Sentry Co. supervisory personnel. All of our site supervisors and many of our corporate officers have started as security sentries.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • 21 years of age (optional on a case-by-case basis).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • No criminal history.
  • Good record of attendance at previous schools and/or jobs.

Additional preference for the following qualifications:

  • Any undergraduate degree.
  • Any post-high school education related to police work, corrections or security.
  • Prior experience in police work, fire fighting, medial and paramedical services, private security services or any related field.
  • Military experience (with DD 214 showing honorable discharge).

Field Investigators
These sentries (full-time or part-time) investigate a wide variety of cases including: insurance and workers compensation fraud, merchant fraud, prison fraud, accidents, child abuse and many others. Our agents are known for their professionalism, integrity, effectiveness and autonomy. Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelors degree in criminal justice or related field, or prior work experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of laws applicable to evidence gathering, search and seizure, entrapment, etc.
  • Outstanding acting abilities.
  • Demonstrable skill in ambulatory, vehicular and stationary surveillance techniques.
  • Thorough working knowledge of accessible research databases, public record depositories and other resources.
Additional Preference for the following attributes:
  • Documented work experience in this, or related field.
  • Internship with police agency or private firm in related field.
  • Exposure or experience in a courtroom setting (i.e.; testimony, depositions, etc.)
  • Undergraduate course work specifically related to this field.
  • Applicants with their own video and surveillance equipment.
  • Prior military experience, especially related to this field.

Undercover Investigators
These associates will infiltrate our client’s work force and investigate allegations of illegal activities perpetrated on their premises. Typically, our investigators expose illegal drug usage, sales and possession, theft, sabotage, sexual and racial harassment and illegal weapons sales and possession in the course of their daily work. This profession is not for the weak, timid, undecided or faint of heart. Females are encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications Include:

  • Thorough working knowledge of commonly abused street drugs.
  • Thorough working knowledge of current street slang.
  • Street smarts coupled with a good street presence.
  • Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
  • Thorough working knowledge of laws applicable to evidence gathering, search and seizure, entrapment, etc.
  • Outstanding acting abilities.
