Services Offered by GNS
About Great Northern Sentry Company
Great Northern Sentry was founded April 18, 1991, to provide highly specialized, result oriented, private investigation and security services to quality conscious clients. We are driven by two basic beliefs: One, our associates treat our clients in direct accordance with the way we treat them; and, two, when we make a commitment, we deliver on it, no matter what. These philosophies have propelled us from a company with just a few employees to a thriving corporation with five divisions.

Why Choose Great Northern Sentry Co.
Since our founding in 1991, prospective clients have asked us "Why should we choose Great Northern over another security firm?" This is occasionally accompanied by a reference to the relative investment required. Our answers have remained consistent throughout our history and periodic checks with our clients unfailingly confirm our beliefs.

We screen our people thoroughly.
Because we hire from the same labor pool used by every other security firm, we believe it is imperative that we do our best to select capable, reliable people with the skills and abilities necessary to execute our responsibilities professionally. A full pre-employment background check is performed including initial drug testing and fingerprinting. Employees are continuously subject to random drug screening.

We train our people.
Our process goes far beyond the antiquated initial orientation and training used by many firms. We start there then move into a minimum 16-hour site specific program. This is followed by a highly specialized ten-module, training program, which we created. Our commitment to training never ends. After the initial concentrated training and testing is completed, we continue with our mandatory monthly programs for all of our staff. Additionally, we offer 100% college course reimbursement; seminars and course work at a variety of agencies throughout south central Michigan. In our experience, there is no other training program like it.

We supervise our people.
We assign a site Security Supervisor to every client, Shift supervisors to many of the larger clients and a dedicated Security Manger to those sites that run more than 1,200 hours per week. They are responsible for all functions relative to our responsibilities, including, but not limited to: scheduling, reporting, order & discipline, initial interviewing and initial client liaison Spot inspections are made periodically by GNSC management making sure that proper policy and procedures are being followed, including appearance.

We are accountable.
Every member of our team is both accountable and accessible from our Security Sentries to our President/CEO. We exist solely to assure the protection and satisfaction of our clients. We know we are accomplishing this because:

  • We have never been sued in our history. Ever.
  • We’ve had only one compensable accident in our history.
  • We’ve only lost one contracted account in our history.

We charge a reasonable rate for our services.
We decided before we founded the business that it would be infinitely better to explain our fee structure up front than to sacrifice our relationship over poor quality service.

We Commit, We Deliver
Our byline says it all. It’s on every uniform, every advertisement and every piece of printed material we produce and we take it very seriously. Just ask any of our clients.
